Skin Cancer Awareness – Lesion 1

Lesion 1 - Nodular melanoma

This is the first in a series of images aimed at raising awareness of skin cancer. We will present photographs of actual patients from Central Perth Skin Clinic who have been diagnosed with a skin cancer. In doing so, we hope that it will show various different skin cancers and how they can present. We will only publish photographs from patients who have provided consent.

Lesion 01 – Nodular Melanoma

This lesion on a 55yo man’s elbow is a nodular melanoma. This had been growing over a few months and kept getting knocked and irritated due to its location on the elbow. Initially didn’t look much more than a wart on the skin, but it kept growing and prompted a skin check. It has now been completely removed following initial biopsy at CPSC and definitive treatment with wide local excision by a plastic surgeon.

If you have a spot that looks different, is changing, or is like a sore or pimple that doesn’t seem to get better, please get it checked.
